With many based god fathers of electronic music including: Aphex Twin, Square Pusher, or what ever your personal preference may be, some support needs to be handed over to one other big name on the scene. Considered by many (like Aphex Twin) to be IDM, or “Intelligent Dance Music”, artists of this genre give “Dance Music” some maturity.
“Clark”, or Chris Clark had seemed to have been a name that many a few did not have certain conscience of. I have actually only until but a year ago had discovered Clark through one of my brothers music browsing sprees, I almost wish I had been acquainted sooner. Chris Clark, an English electronic music artist, had shortened his name after his first two albums, he now goes by just “Clark”, which to me is very fitting. Currently signed to Warp Records (starting on 2006), Clark has cranked out about six LP’s and six EP’s, with names including: Body Riddle, Empty Bones of You, Clarence Park, Ceramics is the Bomb, and one of my favorites, Turning Dragon. Speaking of the album Turning Dragon, I wanted to display some tracks from this album if you may have not heard Clark before. He takes on an aggressive edge in his sound that seems to tie into more bodily like movements rather than head banging. His beats are impeccably intoxicating, thumping straight into your heart like an African Drum line. Backed by reverberated, de-tuned synth melodies, they give the pumpy bass something to adhere to with its malicious like rhythms that seem to give you no choice but to at least bob your head. Here let me just have you listen to him and not me.
So here.
^ This is one of my favorite songs, especially at about 3:08 when that dragged out synth / pad melody is backed up by the “1–2–3–4-5–6” sort of beat that I think is terrifically inducing (if that makes any sense). You can just feel the sort of “Evil Dance”, as I like to call it, that seems to not bring you down, but surprisingly bring you up! (Well, personally).
^Yes, a really awesome video, and a song to boot! This was the first encounter I had with Chris Clark, still being one of my favorite songs (also one of his most popular tracks).
^This sounds a bit more at home with people familiar with Aphex Twin.
So, I couldn’t really find much more about Chris Clark, or maybe I just lost time to do extensive research. Regardless of bountiful splendors of useless information, I will just leave it for you to just give Chris Clark a good listen, if your into this sort of electronic music.
Well quite simply put, I sampled some more DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) songs. Here is one of two that will be on the My Girls EP, and I have only begun to master the second mix I am to post on the EP, so in due time.
With a vast blend of fast drum breaks, cheesy pianos, and cutesy french voices, I cannot help but enjoy what Orange Lounge has concocted. “Mobo*Moga”, by Orange Lounge has combined the lavish taste of a swanky lounge with promiscuous french female vocals that were just screaming to get butchered. Butchered in a positive sense of course, or sampled to the layperson, I really wanted to extract what Tomosuke Funaki and Shizue Tokui had in their cute, seductive voices. Though sung in French, Shizue Tokui (徳井志津江), and Tomosuke Funaki (舟木智介), are both clearly Japanese, so I can assume that they either are well versed in French or have sampled some other sort of french vocals from another source. In any sense, it doesn’t really make a difference, it sounds great.
So here is song one of two that will be on my My Girls EP.
Well pertaining towards my recent post, I had talked about DDR (Dance Danced Revolution). I may have mentioned that the original DDR’s are home to a various array of differen’t PARANOiA’s, by 180 or Naoki if you must. PARANOiA being a great song left me no choice but to come up with my own mix. But, before we get to my end of the deal, please feel free to check out many of these great remixes done to the original PARANOiA.
Anyways there are a shit-load more mixes and re-edits of this one base song. I believe it has got such a reputation for having such great steps, and a thumping beat to boot. These songs are always my “go to’s” when it comes to browsing the roulette wheel of tracks in the game. Regardless, here is my remix of PARANOiA, its short, but works for how short most of the acutal in-game songs are, and actually mine seemed a bit longer than most.
I have been wanting to shed some light on my remix of “Teams’ ” song “Stunts”. A brilliant mix and meld of various samples, from well, I am not sure, a variety of songs I presume. This, although so distinctly different in so many ways that, “Teams” himself has conceived his own funky child. And funky it is, take a listen and see why I was so excited to mix up these very well placed slaps, bumps, snaps, and whatever else that may constitute its jungle-funk fusion (as a like to call it).
So down below is “Teams” original track “Stunts”.
You may also find his bandcamp HERE, which includes a handful of funky, chill, and experimental like jams.
To anyone that may be in no acquaintance to “Teams” should know that he has done work with Star Slinger, and if not too familiar with him either check out his tasty selection HERE. Check out the track “Close to me”, which does not seem to appear on this bandcamp. Here is the link, also watch the video till the end, I am not sure if it’s a fan made or what, but bear with it, it will give you a chuckle.
So if you haven’t listened before hand, here is my remix, or as a like to call it re-arrangement, considering it was completely sliced and rearranged to my liking.
And I suppose I was going for sort of a more, dance-like house rhythm, which at least recently has been what all my tracks have been falling under. Well besides my doings, Teams has the ideal piece here, with considerations to Star Slinger as well, for I would not have known of Teams unless Star Slinger had not dug him from the crypt. “Stunts” is always going to be one of my go to jams on my playlists, it just works, and gets me thump’n.
