A couple of my favorite fellows, long living in my library of music. Always a stop when I ride the shuffle train on my Ipod, never to fail in keeping me satisfied with echoing voices and sounds of reverberated passageways. Idiot Pilot (as pictured) is the work of Michael Harris and Daniel Anderson, two incredibly talented young guys who have knocked some really great tracks out of the park, for me anyways. Though not together anymore, each has come to take their lives separately, which is sad on my part being such a great duo for years. Here, from their website (Idiot Pilot.com) is basically a “good-bye” to their loving fans…
“January 12th, 2011
Dear friends, fans and Idiot Pilot family,
After months of recording, working and pouring our hearts into more Idiot Pilot material, we have decided to take a moment to ourselves. The band will be going on indefinite hiatus, and although we cannot say at which point we will be working again, there is no telling what the future may hold. As of right now, we are going to spend time focusing on other musical ventures, moving to new cities, spending times with our families, and exploring the world outside of Idiot Pilot.
This band has been a labor of love for nearly half of our lives, and if we cannot maintain our pervious level of delicacy, attention and passion in the music then it is time for a break. Idiot Pilot is our pride and joy, and we refuse to release something into the world that isn’t the best that we can give. Thank you for your dedication thus far, it means the world to us.
Daniel and Michael”
I cannot express how heart breaking this is to me, and many others, it is too bad that such great music had fallen short, for now at least (and I hope). And like I had said, it has been years that I have been listening to these guys, especially their album Strange We Should Meet Here, which was their first and best album in my mind. Even with their newest material I could not let go of the intensity that their music offered; offering soft melodies accompanied by abrupt violent screams that would raise the bar to a new level of Post Hardcore. Even with my passion for “Screamo” left behind, Daniel’s screams still seem to strike the right chord in me, especially with the great electronic element that Idiot Pilot had been known for to go along with it.
With Idiot Pilot still here with me today, I have taken the liberty of taking advantage of the gorgeous sounds that many of their songs had been filled with. Idiot Pilot, being an ELECTRONIC post hardcore duo, left me no choice but to make a mix, seeing as it was only necessary considering they had such a strong electronic element to them. The track I have put through a blender hails from Strange We Should Meet Here, as I have said, my favorite album to date from them. The song is entitled “Arrhythmia”, and is a beautiful mesh of bleeps, boops, reverbing voices, intense guitars, and brilliant pads. I had no choice but to extract these beautiful sounds and appropriate them into a dance like rhythm which seemed to work surprisingly well. Down below is the original song by Idiot Pilot themselves, which I give full credit to my mix as being theirs, seeing as I basically re-arranged everything to extract and more “dance-like-house-like” feel. Anyways, here is their wonderful song which inspired me to concoct mine. Enjoy.

I love the stretched out guitar chords that act as the pads or violins if you choose, it gives me goosebumps almost every time. All the sounds, especially Michael’s voice, which seemed to sample and cut-up extremely well, a valid reason for my mixes existence. Down below is my mix, hope you enjoy!
And as I have said previously, all regards to Idiot Pilot themselves for giving me an opportunity to utilize such great music to re-appropriate the edgy, though terrific, feel that “Arrhythmia” emits.
